Um mapeamento de objetos que possam, eventualmente, estar em rota de colis\u00e3o com a Terra. Ent\u00e3o, a lente do telesc\u00f3pio foi encomendada ao Sandro Coletti, do Paran\u00e1. A localiza\u00e7\u00e3o do observat\u00f3rio acabou ficando em um terreno de Jo\u00e3o Ribeiro (professor e psicanalista), em Oliveira (150km de Belo Horizonte). Enquanto o astr\u00f4nomo amador Jo\u00e3o Ribeiro constru\u00eda a edifica\u00e7\u00e3o, Crist\u00f3v\u00e3o Jacques (engenheiro civil e F\u00edsico) adquiria os equipamentos. O observat\u00f3rio\u00a0conta tamb\u00e9m com mais um astr\u00f4nomo amador, Eduardo Pimentel (advogado). Era o C\/2014 A4. Crist\u00f3v\u00e3o Jacques ressalta que mesmo com um telesc\u00f3pio &#8220;modesto&#8221; a descoberta do cometa veio, principalmente, porque houve planejamento e, principalmente, houve observa\u00e7\u00f5es. O objetivo primeiro do SONEAR \u00e9 o monitoramento de asteroides potencialmente perigosos, foi um acaso a descoberta do A4 (SONEAR).<\/p>\n<p>Esse primeiro cometa recebeu o nome de SONEAR por uma regra da Uni\u00e3o Astron\u00f4mica Internacional. O objeto foi detectado na noite 11\/12 de janeiro de 2014 e reportado ao MPC (Minor Planet Center) como um asteroide. Pouco tempo depois, um astr\u00f4nomo italiano observou o mesmo objeto e detectou caracter\u00edsticas comet\u00e1rias. Neste caso, o cometa recebe o nome do observat\u00f3rio que o encontrou. Isso porque tais regi\u00f5es s\u00e3o inacess\u00edveis aos observat\u00f3rios do hemisf\u00e9rio norte. Grosso modo, a busca se d\u00e1 fotografando-se um mesmo setor do c\u00e9u em intervalos pr\u00e9-programados de tempo. Isto equivale dizer que ele est\u00e1 preparado para ver objetos de at\u00e9 magnitude 20. S\u00e3o 450mm de di\u00e2metro do espelho prim\u00e1rio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A astronomia amadora hoje possui condi\u00e7\u00f5es de ter acesso a tecnologias refinadas, enquanto fica cada vez mais dif\u00edcil empreender pesquisas em telesc\u00f3pios profissionais em grandes centros. Neste aspecto o SONEAR \u00e9 um observat\u00f3rio amador mas com planejamento profissional. Todos as noites a programa\u00e7\u00e3o de varredura do c\u00e9u \u00e9 passada, via internet, ao observat\u00f3rio. Uma vez que tudo pode ser controlado remotamente, n\u00e3o h\u00e1 necessidade de presen\u00e7a f\u00edsica dos astr\u00f4nomos.
