Ao que nos interessada, que \u00e9 o fen\u00f4meno meteor\u00edtico, seu modelo de explica\u00e7\u00e3o foi criado por Arist\u00f3teles e mantido por mais de 18 s\u00e9culos. Curiosamente os &#8220;meteoros de Arist\u00f3teles&#8221; foram a ultima parte de seu modelo universal que veio a ser abandonada. A maior parte do Modelo aristot\u00e9lico havia ca\u00eddo em desuso ainda no s\u00e9culo XVII.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A doutrina de Arist\u00f3teles come\u00e7ou a ser questionada a partir dos trabalhos de Nicolau Cop\u00e9rnico (1473-1543), Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) e Galileu Galilei (1564-1642). O grande primeiro golpe foi mostrar que a Terra n\u00e3o era o centro do Universo e que o Universo, como descrevia Arist\u00f3teles, n\u00e3o era t\u00e3o perfeito assim.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.bramonmeteor.org\/bramon\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Nicolaus-Copernicus.jpg\"><img data-attachment-id=\"1419\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Galileu<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cop\u00e9rnico nos mostrou que seria muito mais simples determinar a posi\u00e7\u00e3o dos planetas no c\u00e9u, se consider\u00e1ssemos que os mesmos possu\u00edam orbitas circulares e centradas no Sol e n\u00e3o na Terra. Brahe nos mostrou, por simples paralaxe, que o Grande Cometa de 1577 estava distante al\u00e9m da \u00f3rbita da Lua. Justamente, o intrigante era que tal cometa n\u00e3o deveria estar naquela regi\u00e3o do c\u00e9u, sendo o mesmo um mero fen\u00f4meno atmosf\u00e9rico. Quando Galileu descobriu as luas de J\u00fapiter e as fases de V\u00eanus, terminou de derrubar o Universo geoc\u00eantrico de Arist\u00f3teles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mesmo com a queda do modelo aristot\u00e9lico, os meteoros continuaram inating\u00edveis, pois eram tratados com pouco interesse. Kepler (1571-1630) acreditava que os meteoros eram realmente fen\u00f4menos atmosf\u00e9ricos. Isso os exclu\u00eda dos estudos astron\u00f4micos. Isaac Newton (1642-1727) tamb\u00e9m tratava os meteoros como fen\u00f4menos terrestres. Wallis sugeriu que um pequeno cometa tivesse ro\u00e7ado a superf\u00edcie da atmosfera da Terra. Ele perguntava como a queima de um vapor poderia ser visto em tantos lugares da Ingaterra. Mantendo trajet\u00f3ria estimada linear?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ralph Thoresby escreveu em 1710 a Royal Society, relatando um grande fireball em 18 de maio daquele ano. Descreveu como &#8220;uma grande exala\u00e7\u00e3o sulfurosa&#8221;. Mas, ao saber que muitas testemunhas estavam em diversas cidades, come\u00e7ou a pensar melhor sobre o fen\u00f4meno. Ficou ansioso em saber se outros reportes foram mandados a Royal Society. A carta dele nunca foi respondida. Ali foi o in\u00edcio do processo de ruptura com o modelo aristot\u00e9lico.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Halley fez as verifica\u00e7\u00f5es da argumenta\u00e7\u00e3o da origem do fen\u00f4meno dos meteoros tratando-os \u00e0 luz do conceito de vapores inflam\u00e1veis. Ele come\u00e7ou a perceber que as observa\u00e7\u00f5es n\u00e3o encaixavam naquele paradigma. Ent\u00e3o as observa\u00e7\u00f5es ou o modelo estavam errados?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Halley tomou como refer\u00eancia os brilhantes fireballs, justamente por conta de os mesmos poderem ser vistos de grandes dist\u00e2ncias. Foi notado que os fireballs deveriam estar a 65-80km altitude. Esta era uma importante informa\u00e7\u00e3o pois, em 1680, Halley empreendeu experi\u00eancias que apontavam que a atmosfera da Terra n\u00e3o era muito mais alta que 70km. Assim, como os meteoros poderiam ocorrer at\u00e9 mesmo acima do topo da atmosfera?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Infelizmente Halley reconhecia que suas observa\u00e7\u00f5es e ideias seriam impopulares. Ele n\u00e3o tinha um modelo estabelecido para explicar os meteoros. Talvez se tivesse algo s\u00f3lido teria sido poss\u00edvel aniquilar a vers\u00e3o de Arist\u00f3teles \u00e0quela \u00e9poca.\u00a0 Mas n\u00e3o foi poss\u00edvel. Para ele seria dif\u00edcil ir contra as palavras de Newton, quando o mesmo afirmava que no espa\u00e7o exterior n\u00e3o existiria mat\u00e9ria s\u00f3lida a n\u00e3o ser a constituinte de planetas, estrelas e cometas. Al\u00e9m do que, defender uma origem extraterrestre para os meteoros, era trazer \u00e0 tona as ideias epicuristas. Algo que o cristianismo se esfor\u00e7ava para soterrar j\u00e1 por dezessete s\u00e9culos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Os meteoros aristot\u00e9licos sobreviveram a este primeiro teste contra uma argumenta\u00e7\u00e3o de observa\u00e7\u00f5es cient\u00edficas.
