trajectory<\/p><\/div>\n<h4>Trajectory<\/h4>\n<p>The preliminary 3D trajectory computed based on all the reports submitted to the AMS* shows that the fireball was traveling from South East to North West and ended its flight right above Hamburg.<\/p>\n<p>* through AMS partners:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.meteoros.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arbeitskreis Meteore Lindenberg, Germany and Sirko Molau from Seysdorf, Germany caught the event on this cam (see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amsmeteors.org\/2019\/04\/2-fireballs-caught-on-the-night-of-16-to-17-april-2019\/?fbclid=IwAR2MD9UkW5VxMX1Tr9P6LSRMe0KsoOLtbDppq3DSbM1-TvsyHtTcMEgXaHc#1774Video\">video<\/a>\u00a0below). It is the only media sent to AMS about this event so far.<\/p>\n<h3>Fireball over Delaware: 325 reports from 12 states<\/h3>\n<p>AMS also received\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fireball.amsmeteors.org\/members\/imo_view\/event\/2019\/1775\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>325 reports<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0so far about another bright and green fireball that happened over Delaware the same night at 02:57 Universal Time (10:57pm EDT). The vast majority of these, however, occur over the oceans and uninhabited regions, and a good many are masked by daylight. Those that occur at night also stand little chance of being detected due to the relatively low numbers of persons out to notice them.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the brighter the fireball, the more rare is the event. As a general thumb rule, there are only about 1\/3 as many fireballs present for each successively brighter magnitude class, following an exponential decrease.
